Mr. Anish Rajan
Consul General of India in Durban, South Africa


Anish Rajan assumed the post of Consul General of the Republic of India in Durban, Republic of South Africa on March 9, 2019. His consular district includes the Provinces of KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Free State.

Consul General Rajan joined the Indian Foreign Service (IFS) in 2007. He has served in the Indian Embassies in Cairo (2009-2011) and Abu Dhabi (2011-2012) and in the PAI Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi (2012-2016). Before moving to Durban, he served as the Representative of India in Ramallah (2016-2019).

He is married to Kajari Biswas, IFS officer and Consul in Consulate General of India in Durban. They have one son.

Consul General Rajan holds an M.A. in Economics from the University of Kerala. He speaks Malayalam, Hindi, English and Arabic. In his spare time, he loves following cricket and occasionally football, reading mostly non-fiction and occasionally fiction, learning languages (currently learning isiZulu and isiXhosa), listening to music and watching movies & TV shows.
