Press Release - 17 March 2020: Suspension of Travel on Visa to India and Visa free travel for OCI card holders

Emergency Visa Services

Government of India has suspended all existing visas issued to nationals of all countries (other than those issued to Diplomats, Officials, UN staff, Employment and Project visas) till 15th April 2020. Visa free travel facility granted to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders has also been kept in abeyance till 15th April 2020. Detailed information may kindly be accessed daily at the website of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India at www.mohfw.gov.in .

2. The online visa application process has been suspended. Emergency Visas would be issued only if there are compelling reasons for travel. Foreign nationals (including OCI cardholders) seeking Emergency Visas for travel to India may apply for a visa using the manual visa form at Regular Visa Form. A covering letter giving the compelling reasons and supporting documents along with the filled up form may kindly be sent to visa.durban@mea.gov.in or cons.durban@mea.gov.in. 3. In view of the prevailing situation and the advice of public health authorities, visits to the Consulate General of India, Durban for miscellaneous consular services (OCI, Passport, Miscellaneous services on Passports, Attestations, Birth Registrations etc.,) would be by appointment only. Indian Nationals

4. Indian nationals have been advised to avoid non-essential travel to India. They may be quarantined for a minimum period of 14 days on arrival in India.
